Letter from Ketch in Jordan, Utah
Dear Mr. Mountain,
My name is Ketch and you done a real good thing at our school today. It was the best show I ever seen. I am glad you came cause a man on the radio said the world will end tomorrow. I don’t believe him but just in case I’m not doing no homework tonight. And I’m not cleaning my room or brushing my teeth. And I’m letting my dog Rip sleep in my bed with me. What will you do if the world ends tomorrow?
Your friend,
Ketch

Dear Ketch,
When I woke up this morning the world was still here. But the day ain’t over with yet. Anyway, I am headed for my lodge in the north woods of Canada across the great divide to the high and lonesome. Or as Huck Finn said, “I’m going to light out for the territories before aunt Polly tries to civilize me.” Don’t you worry about me old hoss. I got my kayak, my dirt bike, my fish pole, and my pretty lady all packed in my trailer. And when I get there I am going to catch a big lake trout, roast it over a fire, and howl at the moon. So keep yer eye on the skyline and the wind at yer back.
Your Friend,
Griz
